Conflict Resolution/Mediation Course Offered
The Piedmont Dispute Resolution Center, a Piedmont United Way agency, will offer a 20-hour basic course in mediation and conflict resolution skills. This interactive course teaches practical, effective mediation skills applicable in general district court and many arenas and is great training for anyone interested in conflict resolution. Participants will learn and practice key skills in conflict resolution, interest-based negotiations, reflective listening, facilitation, and structured problem-solving. The course is approved by the Division of Dispute Resolution Services, Supreme Court of Virginia for general district court mediator certification. The trainer is PDRC Executive Director Lawrie Parker. The course is certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia. Register online, via email or by phone.

Fees/Admission
Cost is $500; $450 if registered by Nov 15th. There is a non-refundable $50 administrative fee for cancellations. A limited number of scholarships are available for volunteer community mediators through a Community Assistance Grant from the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation.
