Revalation Vineyards is pleased to feature artist Barbara Hawley in both of our tasting rooms for May and June of 2026. Her exhibition, titled “Piece Work,” features wood piece assemblages.  Creating them involves problem-solving, arranging, and finding the mystery in the newly created artwork. Barbara is an artist, teacher, and writer who received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts with a minor in Art History from the University of Maryland.  She developed the first Artist-in-Residence Program at the University of Virginia’s Cancer Center, where she focused on the importance of creative self-expression.  She also started art programs for Virginia Neuro Care and Play Partners (a division of Children, Youth, and Family Services) in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Currently, Barbara is the artist-in-residence at MAD Arts in Madison, Virginia, where she teaches and exhibits her artwork.  She is interested in a wide variety of media, from drawing to watercolor, acrylic, collage, as well as jewelry, assemblage, photography, and more.

INTRO TO PICKLEBALL with certified instructor George Shackelford

Ages 7-12

Camp fee: $120

In this introductory camp, kids will learn the basics of the fastest growing sport in the country! Sportsmanship will be emphasized during games, swing practice, fun drills & scoring fundamentals. The goal is to have young players develop skills and confidence along with an interest in the game!

Paddles will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own paddle.

Camp manager George Shackelford is certified by the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), official education & certification partner of USA Pickleball. George discovered pickleball after moving from Houston, Texas to Culpeper in 2017. After developing his own game, he began coaching friends and helping them improve their games. Along with three other local players George co-founded the Culpeper Pickleball Club and helped advance pickleball in the Culpeper area. He is an experienced tournament player and enjoys helping his students to prepare for tournaments. As a PPR-certified coach, George enjoys working with players of every level.

Hospice of the Piedmont’s Kids’ Grief and Healing Camp offers a compassionate, creative space for children and teens to explore their grief in a supportive community. Open to all youth—regardless of whether their loved one received hospice care—the program helps young people feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Grief can be especially challenging for children and adolescents, who are often overlooked in times of loss. Our camp provides a safe place to express difficult emotions such as sadness, anger, or fear, while building healthy coping skills that can support them long after camp ends.

Children and teens ages 5–17 (or 18 if still in high school) who have experienced the death of someone close to them are invited to attend. Priority is given to first-time campers. Throughout the day, participants will connect with peers who understand what they’re going through, helping them recognize that their feelings are normal and shared by others.

This full-day camp experience includes art making, nature exploration, s’mores, a bonfire memorial, and a team-building experience with low and high ropes challenges. Campers will have fun, see that they are not alone, and understand that their feelings of grief are normal.

Energy Medicine Yoga is a special program offered at Powell Wellness Center by certified EMY instructor Annette Hyde. The program is offered quarterly, in alignment with wellness needs that occur with seasonal change. Pre-registration is required (540-445-5406).

EMY was founded by American yoga practitioner Lauren Walker. It combines yoga with techniques to balance the body’s energy field and support healing, and is described as a way to “amplify your yoga practice without extending the time devoted to it.”

Class will be held in the group exercise room at Powell Wellness Center, located at 1005 Golf Drive in Culpeper. All levels of yoga experience are welcome. Exercise mats will be available. Participants are welcome to bring their own mat.

A great opportunity for kids to sample Tae Kwon Do! Campers will receive an introduction to blocking, striking and kicking techniques. They will also learn exercises to strengthen their core and increase overall stamina in support of Taekwondo progression. Camp leader Wendy Embry has taught Taekwondo for seven years and has instructed youth from kindergarten through high school age. She has earned a 2nd Dan black belt level in Taekwondo.

The Culpeper Cavaliers collegiate summer baseball team franchise is operated by Culpeper Community Baseball. The organization’s mission is to provide a fun-filled, family-oriented, memorable experience and be a model program in terms of helping youth and the community in general. Camp coach: Amy Pen Dreckman. Amy grew up in a volleyball family and has shared her love of the game with her own family (three daughters are volleyball players). She has coached teams for more than a decade and currently is the assistant coach for the PRFC high school travel team. Amy has also served as an assistant coach in the VHSAA League for 3 years. Amy is a personal trainer and health coach.

Pam spent much of her career as a microbiologist in academia and at the National Science Foundation. In 2019, she became the Executive Director of the Greene Care Clinic, a free health care clinic for uninsured adults in Greene County, Virginia. The arts, especially photography, have always been an outlet for her. She lives in Earlysville, Virginia, with dogs, cats, and a large vegetable garden.

Camp is designed to sharpen technique, improve decision making, and build confidence on the ball in a fun and competitive environment. Activities include:

Coach Clay Warner has coached at club and high school levels and is passionate about helping players grow as soccer players. He served as director of operations and director of coaching for Culpeper Soccer Club. He also served as assistant coach and as head coach for Eastern View High School boys’ soccer. Coach Warner has played at the high school varsity level in the US and with a competitive club team while living in England. He holds a US Soccer D License and FA Level 1 (British soccer coaching certification) and is SafeSport certified.

Middle school-age coed basketball skills program with coach Bobby Zajkowski

This basketball camp for boys & girls in middle school will focus on skills work and game play; improvement of muscular endurance. cardiovascular fitness, balance and coordination; and development of fundamental movement skills.

In this camp, youth athletes will learn how to build and improve strength, balance, speed, agility and movement needed for better performance in any sport. Campers should bring a water bottle and a towel and wear athletic shoes.

Camp participants will work with Edson Appleton, a personal trainer at PRFC. With over 13 years of experience in health, fitness, and sports, Edson has worked as a strength & conditioning coach for athletes at all levels, a personal trainer, and a youth sports coach. He sees himself as an educator in health and human kinetics, focusing on teaching proper mechanics, efficient movement patterns and nutrition to empower athletes. Edson’s passion lies in helping others reach their full potential through safe, effective training plans that create lasting change.
