Event Description:
Tour the newly restored home of the Father of the Constitution and the gracious woman who inspired the title "First Lady" on Constitution Day, September 17th.  Learn how curators are solving mysteries to restor ethe Madisons' furnishings and decor.  Watch archaelogists dig for buried Madison "treasure," or catalog the latest archaelogical finds.  Try your hand at 18th-century building techniquest and crafts in the Hands-On tent, or knead homemade biscuits in the coutdoor "kitchen."  Take a special tour fo the enslaved community sites.  Stroll the gadens, hike the old-growth forest, and enjoy all 2,650 acres through the changing seasons.

Montpelier is laocated inthe heart of Virginia’s Piedmot, four miles southwest of Orange on Route 20.  We are 80 miles south of Washington, D.C., 28 miles north of Charlottesville, and 75 miles northwest of Richmond.  For more detailed directions, go to www.montpelier.org and click on VISIT

Fees/Admission:
Montpelier members and children under 6 free.  Reduced adminssion for children 6 - 14, for National Trust members, and for groups.  Reduced admission for group tours. There will be a National Constitution  Say special admission rate of $10.00 per car and a discounted rate of $5.00 per car for Orange County residents.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase on the Constitution day.
