Black History Month Essay Contest

Students in Culpeper, Madison, and Rappahannock counties! Submit to our NAACP Black History Month essay contest! This year we’re celebrating local heroes from our communities or the commonwealth of Virginia.

In 500 words or less, tell us about a Black contemporary or historical figure from your community who has had or is impacting history.
Your "community" could mean somehting small, like your school or neighborhood or something larger, like your county or our state.  
We welcome entries that are more personal in nature as well as those that require you to engage in some research.
