Lafayette’s March Through Culpeper To Receive Marker
CULPEPER, VA – The dedication of the next in a series of markers produced by the Museum of Culpeper History in 2024 will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 16. The public is invited to this event to commemorate the Marquis de Lafayette's campaign through Culpeper during the Revolutionary War. This event led directly to the British surrender at Yorktown and is remembered by several place names in Culpeper County, including Lagrange and the Quarter Field area. The unveiling will take place on the lot of the United States Colored Troops Monument located at the intersection of Maddens Tavern Road and Youngs Lane. Parking will be available at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 23411 Maddens Tavern Road.
The museum has unveiled a total of four markers throughout 2025. Funding for the marker program was provided by the Culpeper Board of Supervisors.
