Make a Mural Workshop Series Registration Open

Learn from professional mural artists and help create public art in this four-session, hands-on mural workshop series.

Ever wondered what it takes to create a mural?

The Town of Culpeper invites you to join the inaugural Make a Mural Workshop Series, a unique four-session experience where you'll learn directly from professional mural artists while helping create temporary public art for Heritage Park.

Throughout the series, participants will be paired with one of three professional artists: Layton Scarbrough (Wildlife), Kat Tines (Florals), or Crystal Burnham (Hand Lettering & Typography). Working in small groups, you'll learn how a mural comes to life from the first sketch to the final brushstroke. Along the way, you'll explore concept development, composition, surface preparation, color selection, paint application, and collaborative painting techniques used by professional muralists.

Whether you're an experienced artist looking to try something new or someone who's always wanted to paint on a larger scale, this workshop is designed to be welcoming, engaging, and hands on. No previous mural experience is required. Just bring your creativity and a willingness to learn.

By the end of the series, you'll have helped create a temporary public mural that will be displayed on the Heritage Park Public Art Structures, leaving your mark on Culpeper's growing public art scene.
