Ribbon Cutting- The Carver 4- County Museum
Ribbon Cutting Event for The Carver 4-County Museum
GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, INC. (GWCRHSAA, Inc.)
Organized in 1993, the mission of the George Washington Carver Regional High School Alumni Association is to document, celebrate and share the educational, social, cultural and military history of students, faculty and administrators of George Washington Carver Regional High School, the only institution of higher education in the four-county region of Culpeper, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock from 1948-68.
It advances its mission in two ways. First, it has awarded more than $120,000 in scholarships to students throughout the region. Second, it has now developed a new museum ? the Carver 4-County Museum - that contributes to the economic, educational and cultural life of our region.
Over the past two and one-half years, the organization has presented five originally-researched exhibits to the public, contributed that information to libraries, digitized thousands of pages of region-born African American civil war soldier pension files, and developed two virtual exhibits and uploaded them onto our website.
The association has its IRS 501(c)3 designation and is financed through membership dues and fundraisers. To date, museum operations have benefited greatly from grants through the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation and private donations. Its website address is www.gwcrhsaa.org.
