Summary/Objective
The Accounting Manager oversees the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reports, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and GAAP. This role leads key functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, while mentoring staff and supporting the company’s financial operations.
Essential Functions
This position has a base schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. While this is the base schedule it may be open to change based on the needs of the business.
- Prepare and review timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop, implement, and enforce financial policies and internal controls.
- Supervise daily operations of the accounting department and provide guidance to staff.
- Analyze and reconcile financial discrepancies by gathering and interpreting account information.
- Monitor cash flow, bank balances, and short-term liquidity needs.
- Review and approve disbursements, verifying accuracy of invoices and authorizing payments and wire transfers.
- Deliver financial reports and analysis to support management decision-making.
- Maintain accurate schedules for cash, forecasts, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
- Manage the chart of accounts and review/prepare journal entries.
- Support external audits by providing documentation and timely responses to auditor inquiries.
- Conduct monthly department expense reviews with stakeholders.
- Recruit, train, and manage accounting personnel, ensuring timely performance feedback and development.
- Stay informed of regulatory, technological, and industry trends to improve financial processes and compliance.
- Respond to ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, or other requests as assigned by the supervisor.
Additional Requirements
- Primarily a sedentary position in an office environment
- Will be required to enter production areas occasionally
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Prolonged periods of computer use.
- Occasional bending, reaching, and squatting.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and reporting standard
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll department.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- 4–5 years of accounting or finance experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in A/P, A/R, and Payroll management.
- Manufacturing accounting experience (preferred).
- ERP experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Income Statement and Balance Sheet analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Technical aptitude with accounting systems; BusinessWorks experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
