Beer Hound Brewery Announces Retirement of Ownership and Final Day of Operations on February 28

Culpeper, VA – After more than 11 1/2 years of serving the community, the owners of Beer Hound Brewery have announced their retirement, with the brewery’s final day open to the public set for Saturday, February 28, 2026.

For more than a decade, Beer Hound Brewery has been a welcoming gathering place for craft beer lovers, dog owners, and neighbors. Over the years, it became a community hub defined by connection, shared experiences, and a strong commitment to giving back.

“Beer Hound was never just about the beer,” said Shirley, co-owner of Beer Hound Brewery. “It was about creating a place where people felt welcome, where dogs were part of the family, and where we could support the causes and communities we care so deeply about. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who walked through our doors and made this journey so meaningful.”

Beer Hound Brewery was twice named Most Dog Friendly Brewery by BringFido.com, a recognition that reflected its open-door approach to pets and its dedication to creating an inclusive environment for all.

Giving back has always been central to Beer Hound’s mission. The brewery hosted chili cook-offs that raised funds for local fire and rescue organizations and police charities, participated in the Culpeper Christmas parade, and supported countless nonprofit organizations, particularly those aligned with animal welfare, veterans, and first responders.

Community traditions such as Santa Paws, featuring photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, became annual favorites for families and pet owners. One of the brewery’s most meaningful efforts was the creation of a Belgian-style beer named after Vader, a Belgian Malinois who lost his life in the line of duty. Proceeds from the beer helped fund nine K9 ballistic vests, supporting working dogs and the officers who serve alongside them.

The owners also recognized the many staff members who helped shape Beer Hound over the years. Their dedication, professionalism, and care for guests played a significant role in creating the welcoming atmosphere that defined the brewery.

Just as important were the customers who supported Beer Hound throughout its run. From longtime regulars to first-time visitors, the community’s continued support helped make the brewery feel like home.

Saturday, February 28 will serve as both the brewery’s final day of operation and a retirement celebration for the owners, offering one last opportunity for the community to gather, raise a glass, and reflect on more than a decade of shared memories.

Beer Hound Brewery will share updates and details leading up to the final day through its social media channels.
