Girls on the Run Piedmont Invites Community to “Party with a Purpose” at 3rd Annual Sneaker Soirée

An interactive fundraiser supporting girls’ confidence, emotional health, and access to life-changing programs
 
Spotsylvania, VA — Girls on the Run Piedmont will host its 3rd Annual Sneaker Soirée on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Stevenson Ridge Event Center, bringing together community members, business leaders, and supporters for an evening designed to celebrate joy, connection, and meaningful impact.
 
Unlike a traditional gala, the Sneaker Soirée is a high-energy, interactive experience where guests are encouraged to dress up, wear sneakers, and engage directly with the mission. The evening will feature hands-on mission moments, a silent auction, a 360 photo booth, dancing, and opportunities to learn how Girls on the Run is responding to the growing mental health needs of girls in the community.
“This is not a sit-and-listen fundraiser,” said Kathy Butler, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Piedmont. “We are creating a space where adults experience the same joy, belonging, and connection we work so hard to build for girls. Supporting girls should feel hopeful and energizing, because adults set the tone for the communities girls grow up in.”
 
Girls on the Run is a prevention-based nonprofit serving girls in grades 3–8 through evidence-based programs that integrate physical activity with social-emotional learning. Girls on the Run Piedmont serves girls across seven counties and is celebrating 12 years of impact in the region.
The cost to deliver the program exceeds $400 per girl each season, yet Girls on the Run Piedmont remains committed to a “pay what you can” model so that no girl is turned away due to financial barriers. More than half of participating families rely on financial assistance to access the program.
Proceeds from the Sneaker Soirée directly support program access, including scholarships, coach training, curriculum delivery, and essential resources such as proper running shoes. As anxiety, isolation, and emotional stress continue to rise among young girls, Girls on the Run provides trusted spaces where girls learn to name emotions, build confidence, strengthen friendships, and believe in their ability to do hard things.
