Girls on the Run Piedmont Launches Spring Season
Girls on the Run Piedmont Launches Spring Season,
Empowering Young Girls to Build Confidence
Participant registration for the upcoming season is now open
Culpeper, VA, January 17, 2026– Today, Girls on the Run Piedmont a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident, is thrilled to announce the launch of its new season. Beginning the week of February 16, the program will welcome girls in grades 3-8 across Culpeper, Fauquier and Stafford for another exciting season of empowerment, confidence building, and personal growth.
Girls on the Run combines physical activity with engaging lessons that help girls develop vital life skills and healthy habits. Over the course of the 8 – 10 week program, participants prepare for a celebratory 5K, all while learning how to set goals, overcome challenges, and make a difference in their communities.
“Since 2013, we have been on a mission to help girls in our community activate their limitless potential and boldly pursue their dreams,” said Kathy Butler, Executive Director “Through movement-based games, group discussions on relevant topics, and coach encouragement, participants gain the confidence to stand up for themselves and others. And with girls’ confidence declining at age 9, they need a fun program that inspires them to embrace who they are, now and in the future.”
Asthe only physical activity-based, positive youth development program for girls with a research-based curriculum, trained caring coaches, and a commitment to welcoming all girls, Girls on the Run supports participants in the areas where they need it most. Numerous studies and reports have shown.the decline in girls’ mental health and physical activity levels over the last decade. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that three in five U.S. teen girls felt persistently sad or hopeless, the highest level reported in at least a decade, and only 24% of girls ages 6-17 engage in at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity. A recent end-of-season experience survey featuring responses from 12,338 program participants confirmed the positive impact of the program. 98% of girls said they felt included at GOTR, 95% felt more confident because of GOTR, and 93% said that because of GOTR, they liked to do physical activity.
The deadline to register girls for the spring season is February 13, 2026. This season, Girls on the Run Piedmont is offering the program at 15 locations. The program fee for the spring season is $175 and financial aid is available on a pay what you can afford basis. The program fee includes registration for the end-of-season 5K Celebration, a program t-shirt, supplies, and course access for 1buddy runner.
