New Regional Conference to Spotlight Innovative Approaches to Aging in Community

Community leaders, professionals, caregivers, and residents invited to explore solutions and resources for an aging population

As the region’s population continues to age, community leaders and organizations are coming together for a first-of-its-kind conference dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities better understand the challenges and opportunities of aging in the community. The upcoming Aging in Community Conference will bring together experts, advocates, and residents for a day of experiential learning, collaboration, and practical solutions focused on supporting people positive aging for all.

The conference will feature an engaging Aging in Community Simulation Workshop, giving participants a hands-on opportunity to experience the physical, social, and logistical barriers many older adults face in their daily lives as they navigate resources. This interactive session is designed to encourage awareness and understanding of how each of us envision our communities as we grow old.

The Village Model, a nationally recognized model that empowers neighbors to support one another in aging independently and safely in their own homes and communities, will be featured. Attendees will learn how this innovative approach is helping communities across the country strengthen connections, coordinate services, and expand opportunities for aging in place.

Throughout the day, featured speakers will share insights on topics including:
• Innovative models for aging in place and community support
• Resources available to older adults and caregivers
• Building stronger, more age-friendly communities

“This conference is about raising awareness while also offering real solutions about how each of us want to age in our community,” said Ellen Phipps, Executive Director of Aging Together. “Our goal is to highlight both systemic barriers as well as the incredible local resources that can help people thrive as they age.”

The event is open to community members, healthcare and social service professionals, caregivers, nonprofit organizations, and anyone interested in supporting aging in place around the region.
