Hospice of the Piedmont Programs and Resources happening in April
National Healthcare Decisions Day
April 16, 2026
National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) is a nationwide initiative focused on empowering adults age 18 and older to make their healthcare wishes known in advance. It highlights the importance of thinking proactively about medical decisions, discussing preferences with loved ones, and documenting these choices so that they are respected in any situation. By raising awareness, NHDD helps ensure that everyone’s values and priorities guide their care, even if they are unable to speak for themselves.
At Hospice of the Piedmont, we believe that planning ahead and making wishes known is a vital part of ensuring dignity, comfort, and peace of mind for both individuals and their families. Advance care planning helps reduce stress, prevent uncertainty, and ensures that loved ones and healthcare providers can honor a person’s choices.
To support our community, we are offering FREE copies of the Five Wishes advance care planning workbook. Five Wishes is a comprehensive guide that helps people document their healthcare preferences, covering medical, emotional, spiritual, and personal considerations. By completing this workbook, individuals can clearly communicate their wishes and have them recognized when it matters most.
Please feel free to share this resource with the community members you serve—it’s a simple step that can make a meaningful difference.

Death over Drafts at Barking Rose
April 28 from 5:30-7:00 PM
Death Over Drafts is an evening of community, connection, and casual conversation about death. But don’t worry, this isn’t a gloomy affair. We’re here to celebrate the full cycle of life. Participants are invited to gather in small groups and discuss thought-provoking questions selected by our team of Death Doulas. This is not a lecture; this is a discussion. Together, we’ll create a comfortable space to share stories and make it easier to talk about this inevitable chapter.
