Town of Culpeper Town Manager Christopher D. Hively Recognized as National “250 Champion of Public Service”
Culpeper, VA (3/24/2026) The Town of Culpeper is proud to announce that Town Manager Chris Hively has been recognized as one of the nation’s “250 Champions of Public Service” by Local Gov 250 and the National Academy of Public Administration.
The recognition honors 250 public servants from across the United States who have made significant contributions to their communities and demonstrated exceptional dedication to public service. Recipients were nominated by colleagues and community members for their impact and commitment to strengthening local government and democracy.
During his tenure as Town Manager, Hively has helped guide Culpeper through a period of significant growth and progress. Under his leadership, the Town has advanced key infrastructure investments, strengthened partnerships with local businesses and community organizations, and supported continued economic development in the historic downtown and surrounding areas. His collaborative approach with Town Council, staff, and regional partners has helped position Culpeper as one of Virginia’s most vibrant and economically resilient small towns, while maintaining the community’s historic character and high quality of life.
“Chris Hively’s leadership and dedication to the Town of Culpeper exemplify what public service is all about,” said Mayor Frank Reaves Jr. “This national recognition reflects the positive impact he has made in our community and the respect he has earned throughout the profession.”
The Local Gov 250 initiative was created to celebrate and elevate the role of government as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, highlighting the essential work of public servants who help shape communities across the country. Through storytelling, recognition, and innovation, the initiative showcases the meaningful contributions local government professionals make every day.
“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition,” said Hively. “Public service is about working alongside dedicated colleagues and community members to build a stronger future for our town. I’m grateful to serve the Town of Culpeper and proud of what our team accomplishes together.”
Hively will be recognized alongside fellow honorees during a 250 Public Service Champions Celebration in Philadelphia in May, held in conjunction with the International City/County Management Association’s Reimagining Government Conference.
The Town of Culpeper congratulates Town Manager Hively on this national honor and thanks him for his continued leadership and commitment to serving the community.
